On the 18 February 2020, Charlotte Dunn and Jacob Badcock joined Martin Khechara from the ‘Investigating successful STARTS methodologies’ team in the science labs along with 13 students from across many different arts based subjects for an Art/Science workshop.

Students were invited to look into microscopes at a whole plethora of substances from embryos to bacteria and record what they saw. Student’s peered at the shapes and forms through the microscopes and came away with high definition images to inspire their artwork as well as knowledge of the processes of microscopy and microbiology. The use of science to inspire artwork as a basis, looks at how the collaborations of the STARTS prize might begin.
